Mel I am sorry it took so long to get back to you. I was working on other projects. Now keep in mind that this article is about Mr. Dave not me. But since you feel using what happened to me over a decade ago to discredit me.Think we are beyond that . In fact What happened to me is a prime example how the brotherhood really works. Get a hold of me and we can met for a Slurpee at the 7-11 to discuss it further You seemed intrigued. Anyway back to some of your Quips. Your concern for the taxpayers is funny. The building on Woolley was a real concern for the taxpayers, also the new pension plan the trustees put you in at the cost of just short of 1 Million per year to taxpayers is another example. Hopefully Fire District legislation to have Boards elected not appointed will pass. Then we can clean out the clowns. Also I will agree most fire service calls are, medical. so why did the chief create more Fire Suppression positions, Battalion Chiefs, and Captains. Taking care of his boys. Also as for strict guidelines seriously? Most Fire Departments don't even have random testing. A truck driver has stricter guidelines. Mr. Sackett isn't suing the members he is suing the Dept. which are hand picked pals, not elected. And one more question How many of your so called Sisters work for the od contract company in other towns for less pay and no pensions on their days off? Understand there is more litigation coming our way real soon pertaining to a patient. Wonder what that will cost us.

Cant afford a guy like Dave but over the past few months the have created more management postions. More Battalion Chief 3-4 , and now as of recently Captains 5 of them . More $100,000 + year jobs, for what. There aren't that many fires in Oswego in a year to justify this. I support Dave. They made an arraingment to move him off the streets and they should stand by it.This happens all the time as firefighters get older. The Cheif and his puppet trustees, and Commisioners should resign. Time to quite playing big city wannabees. This is still Oswego.

I personaaly went to the hearing stripping Dave of his pay which started May 1. There is another hearing on May 30 I believe also. This is probably where they will fire Dave. You have to understand what a joke the district and it's hand picked puppets are about. First off They moved Dave into the inspection dept. when his illness got worse. They mutually agreed that Dave would now be assigned to the Inspection Dept. The district is saying that he is a firefighter medic not an inspector after they appointed him to the inspection dept. Dave meets the criteria as an inspector but now the district claims that was only temporary. Going to the hearing was nothing more than a Kangaroo court. Now lets talk about what a financial hardship Dave is going to be. I would rather have him working with his knowledge instead of using taxpayer money to fund a drum and bag corp to walk in parades, or maybe we didn't need the huge station with the antique doors that open outward at thousands of dollars in cost. Or not using fire district credit cards at local bars, and resurants. Or the alomost 1 million taxdollars being put away for pensions that these guys didn't have before. As I have said before the Fire District has no elected memebers governing them so they spend and do what they want. Is Dave unfit for duty? Not so sure I could even see half of the back of a certain Chiefs chair. It was covered by human flesh. Dave will win this and we will pay. But this is how your tax dollar are spent.

The pulling of a gun in walmart, and sexual harrasments are the County Sheriff Dept. This incident is Oswego Police Dept. Keep in mind that this issue was resolved in one week. Shows leadership in the Chief. Nice Job Chief Baird.

Wait a minute, before we start to bash Mr. Smith I think you should sit down and talk to Mr. Smith. This young man is very smart. I want you to look back up at his Education Bio. He is a numbers man. He ran for Mayor in which he lost but I know he put a pretty good scare in the other candidates. I was hoping to see him be embraced by the Village for other endevors. Trust me this kid is the real deal. If the comments refer to who and where he lives. You have voted a Kendall county board memeber for years who still lives with his parents. So hows that true life experience working on the true tax payers burden.

Trained responders for contract companies do not got through mental of physical training. I was just trying to make a point of the stigma that contract employees are all bad. And if I owned a catering company, I wouldn't be in business very long if my outsourced employees were idiots. I have always believed that weak managment leads to weak labor. Outsourced or not. It does all come down to accountability

First off I think Mike is doing a great thing by using this blog to talk about issues with taxpayers. I have to bring up a point about this talk about outsourcing or contracted out employees. Many Union firefighters work on their days off for these outsourcing companies for way less than they make at their union job. In fact for those of you who believe that an outsourced employee is inferior the next time you call for the Oswego Fire guess what they were outsourced employees until the board allowed them to become Union employees. Which alowed them to get into a taxpayer funded pension plan. At the annual cost of just short of 1 Million dollar per year. So when you call for a Fire Truck or Ambo it is an outsourced employee showing up, Montgomery is outsourced, Yorkville is outsourced. Why because it's cheaper. So my point is ther is no difference between an outsource employee and the non outsourced employee. We all bet our lives on it everyday.
