ReplyYes, parts of it were cute and the scenery was quite beautiful, especially in Japan and Italy. I think part of the reason i was hard on it too was that i hold Pixar to a higher standard. Their films are usually so brilliant, this just fell particularly flat to me.

I don't think this is a yes/no answer. I do think that generally Hollywood keeps rehashing old stories insteading of investing in creative, original ones. But, on the other hand, for every 50 "Alvin & the Chipmunks 7" there's a "Batman Begins" which was not just a terrific film, but a big improvement over the campy, Tim Burton version.
