ReplyHolli- you just can't leave out the parts in the Bible that condemn homosexuality. We are all sinners, but Christians don't want to sin and have a desire to stop sinning and repent for their sins. That's a big difference between those who promote the homosexual lifestyle as something that God would approve of and something for which they try to convince is something that they shouldn't be ashamed of.

ReplyThe God you think you know is not the God of the Bible. Your article simply talked about your feelings and not about what God says in the Bible about homosexuality. The Bible clearly states that it's an abomination.

ReplyOP- I agree. With something such as this limo ride, I'd imagine that the driver stopped at one of the kid's houses to pick everyone up. Wasn't there a parent involved at that point who could have spent a minute talking to this guy?

ReplyExcellent work by everyone. The kids were very responsible and the OPD followed up through DuPage police to get this guy off the road.
Next time, don't hire the "Party Bus" for your transportation :)

ReplyPeople should be able to do whatever they want, including gambling. HOWEVER, if they ever need gov't assistance in the future that takes money from other taxpayers then it should be declined. How many people who gamble have receive mortgage forgiveness for which the rest of us have paid for?

ReplyI agree with OR, it's a good start. I'm not sure how deficit spending ever got started in this District, but it's always a bad idea. Now, they need to cut unnecessary expenses in order to pay the debt down. I don't like the idea of "delayed purchases" because that just means that these expenses will be incurred in the future anyway.

ReplyIt's good to see that the District, and taxpayers, are in such great financial shape that there's money to spend on increasing the size of employment in the District.
Wendt should be a consultant in private industry now that he's found a way to increase employment during a recession, and not have it affect the bottom line.

ReplyToo many of the parks along the Fox River get flooded too often. It's not a good idea to put lots of improvements on that land. How many more times must the become flooded before they realize that these parks should just remain as natural areas?
We had a neighbor who used to refer to Violet Patch Park as Frisbee Park. I asked him why, and he said that's because the PD cut down lots of trees the first time it flooded, and now he could play Frisbee there :)

On the article Director of Student Services Moving to New Position of Director of Special Education

ReplyGinny- how can you say that she is the most qualified person when she doesn't even have a special education background? That's nonsensical.
I have had experience with dealing with the District in these matters and they have a history of putting people in this position who are not qualified to do so. How exactly is she supposed to be making sure the Coop is providing services pursuant to IDEA when she has no qualifications in this area?
The District's attorney is not there to provide daily oversight and evidence of that can be found by the blatant violations of IDEA in the school district that happen with regularity.
It would be great if we broke off from the Coop, but they'd have to sell of their expensive corporate facility in Yorkville and return some of the money back to the District. I have no idea why they ever chose to be a part of a coop in which the other members are other, smaller districts, who probably gain more from 308s membership than 308 does from them.

In our church we certainly hear sermons about how adultery is wrong. But there aren't too many people out there who try to justify that adultery is right according to the bible. They recognize it as a sin and don't try to justify their behavior by distorting what the Bible says about it.
If there was a large organized group of people promoting adultery as an acceptable lifestyle according to the Bible then you'd see the same type of articles and demonstrations against it.
You also don't see organized groups of adulterers trying to actively promote their believes in the school system or promote laws to support their way of life and force that way of life onto others via discriminations laws in housing and employment.
