Reply"Additionally, a picture was posted on Facebook and Twitter, and then provided to multiple media outlets showing a deluge of water from a storm drain located in a hallway outside the gymnasium at Oswego High School. According to high school administration, within a half hour the storm drain was recapped and the hallway was cleared of water and reopened. "
You know it is hard to judge tone in written communications, but tossing in the fact

Seems in part to complain someone felt the need to share that photo, not so much concern that a storm drain popped open in a hallway. Do hallways really have storm drains? Serious question, I know they have drains, but storm drains? -

On the article Oswego 308 Election Too Close to Call, Problems at Kane County Clerk's Office

ReplyNot sure where you are getting the 'doesn't really share results' thing from. No election authority 'shares' results, they each report their own. That is why to see the vote totals from this election you have to look at
The Aurora Election Commission
http://www.libertysystemsllc.com/results/ViewResults.aspx?CountyId=103&DistrictId=18984The Kendall County Clerk
http://www.co.kendall.il.us/county_clerk/election.htmlAs well as the Will County Clerk
http://results.enr.clarityelections.com/IL/Will/46156/116258/en/summary.html
Each election authority reports only their results. Heck, Aurora had all 11 pcts in 308 counted by 9:30 PM (they were among the last polling places to come in last night).

ReplyI guess for want of a better way of putting this, you are wrong....
The votes for those folks who live within the city limits of Aurora and reside in the district were counted
http://www.libertysystemsllc.com/results/ViewResults.aspx?CountyId=103&DistrictId=18984
There are 11 Precincts in Aurora that are in the Oswego School District. Those votes have been counted and are likely included in any totals you are seeing in the media.
There is apparently a portion of unincorporated Kane County in the school district, however no one lives in this small area (as those areas of Kane County in the district have been developed they are usually annexed into the City of Aurora, since they are undeveloped there is no real need for them to be part of the City of Aurora).
So that is why there are 0 votes from Kane County, because the county would only count the votes of anyone who is in Kane County, in the district and not within the city limits of Aurora (there are no voters who meet all three of these conditions).
Hope that clarifies things for you.

ReplyThis is going sound silly, but how many voters are there in unincorporated Kane County who would vote for The Oswego 308 district? There isn't much of the district in general in Kane County and I think all of that is within incorporated areas of the City of Aurora, if so then the Aurora Election Commission would cover those areas. Because unless I am wrong the district ends a Wabonsee Creek and the DuPage County line in the Kane County, if so then the entire district in Kane County I would think would fall under the Election Commission in Aurora and if so they have full results.

Richard, I don't think it is as much the amount as it is the amount and the timing of it. Since for many events (band concerts, practices, etc) parents have to transport to and from the events (even truer on an early dismissal day like today) it becomes a challenge for parents to get off of work and to the schools in time (since traffic will be slower because it is hard to plow when there is traffic).
So you end up with either kids missing events or teachers/coaches/etc having to stick around waiting for a parent who got stuck in traffic. In the bigger scheme of things, this seems like an obvious move to me.

On a different note, for those folks coming into the area to protest there is a great food truck just a short distance away from the protest at the church at 5th and Farnsworth.
They have excellent tacos, have one of their tacos and you will demand an apology from Taco Bell for what they have served you.
