ReplyHere's a CRAZY idea...Don't allow the government to define marriage at all. Take city hall out of the marriage business all together! Allow marraiges to only be preformed in private institutions. Here's another idea, how about schools TEACH academics and stay out of personal lives(sex, religion, whatever). Then PARENTS can decide what morality to teach their own kids.
THINK LIBERTARIAN at least on this issue. EVERYONE WINS!

ReplyI am mad about the mistake. If it would have saved money like it was suppose to have then it would have been a great idea. I applaud the board whenever they save money without directly impacting the students education. Who is the person who said it would save money when it did not? That person should be held accountable.

ReplyRidiculous. Derrick, whoever he is should be fired for such a gross mistake. People changed their lives around to accommodate new bus times and start times just to have it switched the next year for no good reason. We are fed up. Ridiculous.

What you believe to be a bad choice, I might believe to be a good choice. It is not up to others to decide for me.

ReplyIt is up to a child's parent to determine what is best for their child, not any member of any board. A choice is always better than a non-choice.

Reply@David, I appreciate your respectful response. It would be my hope that everyone ( taxpayers, teachers and administrators) come together to make cuts. You asked me specifically what I would cut and obviously that is difficult for me to answer as I am not privy to all information. However, I hope that the new board members and older ones will begin to think out of the box. Can we eliminate our landscaping budget and hire local high school kids to volunteer to do landscaping? That is just one idea. Can we provide busing to include a fee based on ability to pay? Can we move all new hires to a 401k plan instead of pensions? These are a few ideas and when everyone can come to the table with positivity and ideas for change, even better ideas can be generated.

ReplyI will vote for Greg and all candidates who have the COURAGE to make tough decisions. We cannot keep our heads in the sand. The state of Illinois is in FISCAL CRISIS. It is a much better choice to make sensible cuts now than to do nothing and let the system fail completely.

ReplyPlease people, do not assume that this tax will replace or reduce the property tax. Government agencies DO NOT EVER close or limit revenue streams. Your property taxes will continue to rise as usual in ADDITION to the sales tax. Do not be fooled.
