A retired Thompson Junior High teacher was sentenced to eight years for a second-degree sexual assault of a child, according to Wisconsin court documents. Donald McDowell, 65, previously of the 500 block of Danbury Drive, received his sentencing on Jan. 7, 2013 at the Waukesha County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He previously pleaded guilty on Nov. 6, 2012 to the count of second-degree sexual assault, while three other charges were dismissed but read in. He had also been charged with one count of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and two counts of possession of child pornography. Omar Gonzalez, 28, of El Paso, Texas was not charged in any local incidents.
A 28-year-old man from El Paso, Texas was arrested Monday, Dec. 3 and found with three outstanding warrants, one of which was for the sexual assault of a child, said Oswego police. Omar Gonazlez, 28, was arrested at 9:11 p.m. in the 2700 block of Route 34. Police had received a call of a suspicious person selling speakers in the parking lot of a business in the 2700 block of Route 34. Upon making contact, police discovered the warrants against Gonzalez. Gonazalez was not charged for any local crimes, police said. Gonazalez was brought to the Kendall County Jail where he will be extradited back to Texas.

A retired Thompson Junior High teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child, according to Wisconsin court documents. Three other charges against Donald P. McDowell, 65, of the 500 block of Danbury Drive in Oswego, were dismissed in Waukesha County Circuit Court in Wisconsin on Tuesday. He had also been charged with one count of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and two counts of possession of child pornography. According to a criminal complaint, a Waukesha Police Department detective was working undercover as a 14-year-old girl in an Internet chat room on June 1 when he made contact with McDowell.
