The Montgomery Police Department successfully participated in the Thanksgiving Holiday Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation Nov. 12 through Nov. 25. Police were on the lookout for drivers that were driving under the influence of alcohol or not wearing safety belts in an effort to reduce the number of serious traffic related injuries and deaths. Five arrests were made and 26 citations were issued during the designated time frames throughout the campaign.
The Montgomery and Oswego police departments will raise money for Special Olympics.
Law enforcement officers officers throughout the state are partnering with Red Robin and the Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise money for Special Olympics. On Saturday, the Montgomery and Oswego police departments will be acting as assistant servers in hopes of earning extra tips for Special Olympic athletes. The Oswego Police Department will be working for tips from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Montgomery Police Department from 4 to 8 p.m. at Red Robin located at 2860 US Highway 34, Oswego. This marks the fifth year that Illinois has partnered with Red Robin for this event. Tomorrow is the 29th Annual National Night Out, an event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. What is National Night Out? It's a way for communities to band together and learn how to keep crime and drug use down.
