Man Caught Shoplifting 10K Worth of Electronics from Montgomery Business: Police

Montgomery police investigating to see if heist is related to other local incidents.

Michael Johnson, 25, of Chicago was arrested for retail theft at about 7:30 a.m. April 18 after he left a business in the 2000 block of Orchard Road with $10,950 worth of Apple IPads and IPods concealed inside an empty child’s toy package, Montgomery police said. Montgomery police are currently working with other police departments with related cases to determine if this theft attempt is related.

UPDATE: Montgomery Woman Found Alive in Field

Eileen J. Kramer was rushed to Rush-Copley Medical Center this morning.

UPDATED 11:30 a.m. Friday Eileen Kramer was found alive and conscious this morning by police and fire personnel searching a field near Waubonsia and Hinman Street, according to Montgomery police.  She was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center where she is being treated for exposure to the cold, police said. Montgomery Police Stepping Up St. Patty's Patrols

With the help of a state grant, the force will be on the look out for drunken drivers and seat belt violators.

The Montgomery Police Department will step up patrols through the St. Patrick's Day weekend with help from an Illinois Department of Transportation grant.  The campaign will run through Sunday and police will be on extra patrol for seat belt and DUI violations, according to the village's website.  "We stand committed to reducing the number of serious traffic related injuries and deaths through our traffic enforcement efforts," the village site says. "Please help us accomplish this goal by buckling up when you drive, putting your cell phone down, and designating a sober driver if you have been drinking."

Man Charged with DUI After 6 a.m. Crash

Montgomery man also attempted to leave the scene of the accident, police said.

John Schein, 27, of the 100 block of Revere Court, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at about 6 a.m. Dec. 1 when he made an improper left turn at Douglas Road and Seasons Ridge Boulevard and hit another vehicle, according to Montgomery police. Schein then left the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene of the accident on foot, police said. He was taken into custody a short distance from the scene police said. No one was injured in the incident.

Sign a Get Well Card for Montgomery Police Officer Hit By Car

The village of Montgomery is hoping to collect some more signatures on a get-well card for police Sgt. Adam Kuncl, who was injured when he was hit by a car while repsonding to a call of shots fired Sept. 29. Kuncl suffered a skull fracture, which required stitches to his head, along with a broken scapula, compressed discs in his back and multiple lacerations and bruises to his head, face and body. Kuncl is still recovering from his injuries and a date for his to return to work has not been determined The card is available for all to sign at Montgomery Village Hall through the early part of this week.

Officer Released from Hospital; Bond Set at $250K for Oswego Man

A Montgomery police patrol sergeant is home after being struck by a car early Saturday. Sgt. Adam Kuncl suffered a skull fracture, which required stitches to his head, along with a broken scapula, compressed discs in his back and multiple lacerations and bruises to his head, face and body, according to Police Chief Daniel Meyers. Kuncl was released from Rush-Copley Medical Center on Sunday. The Oswego teenager accused of hitting Kuncl while driving drunk, Kendall J. Collier, was reportedly fleeing a party in the 700 block of Oakton Road where police had received a report of shots fired. Very happy to hear that Sgt Kuncl is ok and recovering. This could easily have been another yet tragedy for the Oswego/Montgomery communities. Will the lesson not to drink and drive ever be learned? Updated: Gun Recovered After Montgomery Shooting; Officer Stable After Being Struck by Car

Sgt. Adam Kuncl was injured while responding to a report of shots fired Saturday morning on Oakton Road; Kendall J. Collier, 18, of Oswego is charged with aggravated DUI in the incident. It's his fourth arrest since May.

Updated 1:45 p.m. Sunday Montgomery police have recovered the .45-caliber handgun believed to have been used in a late-night shooting on Oakton Road, according to the Chicago Tribune. The gun was found inside a black Dodge pickup truck at the scene of the shooting, which caused a mass exodus from a party in the 700 block of Oakton Road shortly after midnight Saturday, Chief Daniel Meyers told the Tribune. The officer who responded to the report of shots fired, Sgt. Adam Kuncl, was struck by a vehicle at the scene and seriously injured police, said. His condition has since stablized. It's a collection of some of the most interesting and bizarre crimes from around the area in recent days.  Daryl Florenco Dourado, 25, of the 1500 block of Acorn Court in Lombard, was arrested at 10:25 p.m. June 15 near 95th Street and Reflection Drive, Naperville police said. He was charged with unlawful use of weapons, operating a vehicle without insurance, speeding 30 MPH or more over the limit and disobeying a traffic control device. His bond was $200. Dourado was stopped for running a red light and traveling 103 MPH in a 45-MPH zone. Under the driver's seat were two cans of pepper spray, metal knuckles and an expandable baton. Breaking and entering Someone pried open the back door of a business in the 1300 block of Douglas Road sometime before 1:20 a.m., Montgomery police said. Nothing was reported missing, according to police. Neighborly spat Montgomery police responded to a fight between two neighbors in the 100 block of Riverside Drive over the condition of their lawns at around 6 p.m. Both women pushed each other, police said, and were separated by family members.
