Oswego, Kendall, Kane Counties Jobless Rates Decline in March

While unemployment throughout Illinois has remained mostly unchanged since February, overall 218,500 private sector jobs have been added since January 2010, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Unemployment rates in Illinois were 9.5 percent in March, a slight decrease over February and slightly higher from the same time in 2012, according to new figures released in late April.  In Oswego, the unemployment rate dropped -0.4 percent in March to 8.4 percent in the village. That is down from 8.8 percent in February and up from 7.6 percent in March 2012.  In March, in Kendall County the rate fell to 8.9 percent from 9.6 percent in February. That figure is up year over year from 8.2 percent  In Kane County, the March jobless rate was reported at 10.3 percent, which was down from 11 percent in February. That's still higher than the 9.8 percent reported in March of 2012. Specific numbers for Yorkville and Montgomery were not included, …

Unemployment Report: Area Unemployment Rates Fell Slightly in November 2012

With a fiscal cliff looming, the Department of Employment Security said last month that a solution was necessary to help improve jobless rates.

Unemployment rates in Illinois dropped slightly from October 2012 to November, to 8.2 percent, and are a full percentage point compared to 2011, according to new figures released last week.  November local unemployment rates fell in 11 of 12 metro areas compared to last year, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Kendall County overall saw a decrease of 0.9 percent from November 2011 to November 2012 to 7.0 percent. "The trend of falling unemployment rates across Illinois shows that our economy continues to improve," IDES Director Jay Rowell said. Unemployment Report: Jobless Numbers Up Across the Area

Although unemployment is down from this time compared to last year, numbers increased from September 2012 to October.

Unemployment rates in Illinois increased slightly from September 2012 to October, but are still down compared to 2011, according to new figures released last week.  October local unemployment rates fell in every metro area compared to last year, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. In Kendall County unemployment ticked up in October to 7.1 percent from 6.6 percent in September. In Kane County the rate increased to 7.8 percent from 7.3 percent month over month.
