Man Lost in Batavia Crash Was Caring, Generous

Dave Schele ran Close Encounters Body Shop in North Aurora for 30 years. One of his brothers talks about his life and how he'll be remembered.

David Schele was passionate about three things: his family, cars and helping people. "(Dave was) an outgoing, happy person, jovial and extremely giving," his brother Brian Schele said on Sunday. "He’s the type of person that would give you his last dollar and not expect anything in return." David Schele owned and operated the Close Encounters Collision Center body shop in North Aurora for just over 30 years. Schele, a Sugar Grove resident, died Friday in a two-car crash on Randall Road in Batavia. He was 61. Brian Schele does not know much more about the crash other than what was reported in the media. He learned from one of his three other brothers that Schele was on his way to see a movie at the Randall 15 on Friday when a collision …

Man Dies After Being Hit By Pickup Truck in Southern Kane County

This is the third fatal car crash in Kane County over a 10-day period.

Update: Police say Craig was involved in another traffic crash less than two hours before the Jericho Road crash. A 54-year-old Aurora man died after being struck by a pickup truck on Monday night in Southern Kane County, according to police. Dean Craig was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which took place on Jericho Road between Dugan and Ashe roads in unincorporated Sugar Grove Township. The crash occurred at 7:40 p.m., the Kane County Sheriff's Office said. According to an initial investigation, a Toyota Tundra pickup was traveling east on Jericho Road when it struck a pedestrian, who was identified by police as Craig.
