Allied First Bank, in conjunction with the Oswego YMCA, the Oswego Business Community and local village leaders is hosting its third annual Oswego Triathlon. This USA Triathlon sanctioned event dives into action on Sunday, July 21 at the Fox Ridge Stone Company, at the intersection of Orchard Road and Route 71 at 8 a.m. The triathlon will be made up of a 600 yard swim, a 20km/12.8 mile bike ride and a 5k/3.1 mile run. All net proceeds from the triathlon will benefit the Oswego YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign, the YARN Foundation and Oswego Young Life. “Last year’s event was a tremendous success, and we are growing it to be even bigger and better this year,” said Triathlon Race Director …

Students won awards in the categories of mixed media, color and black and white.
Oswego Community School District 308 elementary students were recognized at Allied First Bank of Oswego’s Art Show. About 100 elementary grade level students were chosen by their art teachers to be a part of the first elementary show at the bank. The following schools participated in the show: East View Kindergarten Center, Old Post, Lakewood Creek, Wolf’s Crossing, Homestead, The Wheatland’s, Boulder Hill, and Fox River Academy of Music & Art. The awards ceremony took place on November 16 at 6:00 p.m. Awards were presented by the Mayor of Oswego, Brian LeClercq, and well attended by the community. Community urged to continue monetary donations through Allied First Bank fund.
Funeral arrangements have been set for Eric Lederman, the 12-year-old Oswego boy who died last week after being hit by a baseball in Wheaton. A wake will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. A family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed Monday that an autopsy revealed Eric's cause of death as a cerebral hemorrhage and blunt head trauma after being struck Wednesday in the neck by a baseball during warmups for a game of the Oswego Panthers 12U Orange traveling team. This past weekend I made orange ribbons for my daughter's softball team to wear on their jerseys in honor of Eric. My daughter hit a triple with bases loaded and when she got to third she tapped on her ribbon and said "that was for Eric!".... Although we did not know Eric personally, as Oswego residents we feel like we lost a family member. I hope the family can find solace in knowing how much …   more ›
