Man Lost in Batavia Crash Was Caring, Generous

Dave Schele ran Close Encounters Body Shop in North Aurora for 30 years. One of his brothers talks about his life and how he'll be remembered.

David Schele was passionate about three things: his family, cars and helping people. "(Dave was) an outgoing, happy person, jovial and extremely giving," his brother Brian Schele said on Sunday. "He’s the type of person that would give you his last dollar and not expect anything in return." David Schele owned and operated the Close Encounters Collision Center body shop in North Aurora for just over 30 years. Schele, a Sugar Grove resident, died Friday in a two-car crash on Randall Road in Batavia. He was 61. Brian Schele does not know much more about the crash other than what was reported in the media. Driver Charged With Aggravated DUI After Route 25 Crash, Passenger Critical

This 35-year-old Auroran was driving the crossover SUV that struck a utility pole Sunday. Here are more details.

A 35-year-old man faces aggravated DUI and reckless driving charges in connection to Sunday's serious car crash on Route 25, police said. Victor M. Alvarez, of the 1400 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, Aurora, was driving northbound in a silver Nissan Murano crossover sport-utility vehicle that ran off the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to a North Aurora police statement. Police responded at 2:11 p.m. Sunday to the crash scene, located about 100 ft. north of Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers found the Murano with heavy passenger side damage. "A passenger in Alvarez’s vehicle, a 39-year-old male of West Chicago, was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove," the statement said. "He was in critical …

Man Airlifted After Route 25 Car Crash Sunday Afternoon

The vehicle went about 60 feet off the road, according to officials. Here's what happened.

UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle in this crash was taken to jail Feb. 11 and faces two felony charges. One man was airlifted to a hospital after a one-car crash Sunday afternoon on Route 25 south of Batavia, fire officials said. The crash occurred at the Red Oak Nature Center entrance on the 2300 block of South River Road (Route 25). Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at about 2:15 p.m., said Mike Klemencic, a North Aurora fire captain. The man was taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. His condition and identity were not immediately available. Man Dies After Being Hit By Pickup Truck in Southern Kane County

This is the third fatal car crash in Kane County over a 10-day period.

Update: Police say Craig was involved in another traffic crash less than two hours before the Jericho Road crash. A 54-year-old Aurora man died after being struck by a pickup truck on Monday night in Southern Kane County, according to police. Dean Craig was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which took place on Jericho Road between Dugan and Ashe roads in unincorporated Sugar Grove Township. The crash occurred at 7:40 p.m., the Kane County Sheriff's Office said. According to an initial investigation, a Toyota Tundra pickup was traveling east on Jericho Road when it struck a pedestrian, who was identified by police as Craig.
