Red Robin Hosts 'Tip A Cop' Saturday

The Montgomery and Oswego police departments will raise money for Special Olympics.

Law enforcement officers officers throughout the state are partnering with Red Robin and the Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise money for Special Olympics. On Saturday, the Montgomery and Oswego police departments will be acting as assistant servers in hopes of earning extra tips for Special Olympic athletes. The Oswego Police Department will be working for tips from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Montgomery Police Department from 4 to 8 p.m. at Red Robin located at 2860 US Highway 34, Oswego. This marks the fifth year that Illinois has partnered with Red Robin for this event. Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit organization offering year-round training and competition in 19 sports for nearly 21,000 athletes with intellectual …

I know some of you are probably sick of election coverage, and for you, April 5 can’t come soon enough. But here’s one thing I’ve learned in my years covering municipal government. When you get up to the state and federal levels, you’ll find people who just want the paycheck and the notoriety. But at the local level, you will mainly find people who just want to make a difference, to do good things for their community and their region. And running for office isn’t the only way to do that.
