He replaces former Chair Mildred McNeal-James, who had served for the past two years.
Editor's note: The following is a press release from the village of Montgomery. At the Jan. 17 Montgomery Plan Commission meeting, Commissioner Steve Jungermann was elected to serve as Chair of both the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. He replaces former Chair Mildred McNeal-James, who had served for the past two years. Jungermann and his wife, Donna, purchased a home in Montgomery in 2007. He was first appointed to the Plan Commission/ZBA in 2009 by Village President Marilyn Michelini, and was recently reappointed to a second five-year term. Builder Montgomery Homes plans to construct single-family homes on the 17 vacant lots west of Briarcliff Road, starting later this year.
Tony Montalbano Sr. believes the real estate market is bouncing back. Montalbano, a 36-year veteran of the real estate industry, owns Montgomery Homes with his son, Tony Jr. Last year, they purchased the Fieldstone Place subdivision, on either side of Briarcliff Road south of Montgomery Road, and on Thursday, they announced their intention to continue building it out, starting in the second half of this year. “I think the market is starting to turn around,” Montalbano said. “And by the time we get started building, it will be better.” The younger Montalbano addressed the Montgomery Plan Commission on Thursday, asking for an amendment to a special use granted to Fieldstone Place’s original developers, the now-defunct Grand Pointe Homes. …

The long-gestating expansion of the west side complex will include 11 soccer fields, four baseball fields, a dog park and 674 parking spaces. The Village Board is scheduled to vote on final approval on Jan. 23.
The expansion of Stuart Sports Complex is set to receive its final village approval by the end of the month. On Thursday, the Montgomery Plan Commission unanimously granted the Fox Valley Park District final plat approval and a special use for their planned project, which will add four lighted baseball fields, 11 soccer fields, 674 new parking spaces and a dog park to the complex, just north of Route 30 on the west side. The large central park currently sports 25 full-size soccer fields and four baseball diamonds. The expansion will allow the park district to meet demand, officials say, even though this current plan is significantly scaled back from the original 2007 proposal. The Village Board gave their approval to the expansion in …

Village President Marilyn Michelini is searching for a new village clerk and a new member of the Plan Commission. If you're interested, you have until next Friday to apply.
For the second time in a year, Montgomery Village President Marilyn Michelini is looking for a new village clerk, and a new member of the Plan Commission. Michelini announced at Monday’s Village Board meeting that Carla Cooper, who served as clerk since April, had stepped down. Cooper cited increased time demands at her full-time job as the reason for her resignation. Cooper was chosen to fill the remainder of Barbara Argo’s term when Argo resigned last February. "I've enjoyed serving the village of Montgomery," Cooper said. So the search is on for a new clerk, whose job includes attending all village meetings, taking notes and transcribing them into minutes. Additionally, after nine years on the Plan Commission, Jason Bragg has decided …

Clarence Bark, 88, retired as the longest-serving plan commissioner last month. On Monday, the Village Board honored and thanked him for his decades of work.
Clarence Bark joined the Montgomery Plan Commission in 1979. He’s been there ever since, participating in some of the most momentous decisions in recent village history. During Bark’s tenure, the Orchard Road business corridor truly took off, with Walmart, Walgreens, Aldi, Burger King and other stores opening up. The Ogden Hill shopping center also broke ground, sprung up and opened its doors during Bark’s time. The village also built its two flagship buildings, the new Village Hall on River Street and the new police station on Civic Center Drive. Those landmarks are in addition to the hundreds of smaller projects he helped shepherd through in his 32 years on the commission. Last month, at age 88, Bark retired from the plan commission, …
