Fire Causes over $50,000 in Damages to Oswego Township Home

No one was reported injured in Wednesday night fire.

The Oswego Fire Protection District was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 5:52 p.m. on Wednesday. A tri-level single-family residence in the 100 block of Dolores Street, Oswego, was found to have smoke showing and fire appearing through the roof, said Battalion Chief Dan Schiradelly. The fire was found to be located in the attic. Schiradelly said the companies began an “aggressive interior attack” to prevent the fire from spreading within the residence. The fire was under control within 15 minutes. All occupants of the home were accounted for and no injuries were reported. Boulder Hill Fire Sparked by Overheating Fan

Fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes by the Oswego Fire Protection District.

The Oswego Fire Protection District was dispatched to a residential fire at 3:05 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, firefighters found a fire in the attic of the home in the 100 block of Circle Drive East, Boulder Hill, said Battalion Chief Dan Schiradelly. The fire was caused by a fan that overheated in the attic bathroom. "We were able to contain it to just the bathroom," Schriadelly said. The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes. The fire department removed part of the drywall and insulation to expose the hidden fire. They removed the insulation and drywall after the fire was extinguished to aid in the clean-up, said Schiradelly. Oswego Fire District Collects Over 2,500 Toys for Area Families

“Elves” from all 5 junior highs turned out at Fire Station One to help sort the toys for local area Oswego families.

The Oswego Fire Protection District hosted its annual toy drive to benefit needy families in the Oswego area. The annual event, now in its sixth year, said Lt. John Cornish who is in charge of organizing the drive, rallies students from all five Oswego junior highs to collect toys to donate to the Needy Family Christmas Project run by the Oswegoland Optimist Club. For every toy donation a student receives a ticket with a chance to be an “elf” for the day and help load the toys into ambulance and fire trucks and then sort them back at the station, explained Cornish. Three Injured in Crash on Orchard Road

Three people were taken to the hospital - one by helicopter - when a minivan collided with a semi truck on Tuesday night at Orchard Road and Route 30.

Three people were injured when a minivan collided with a semi truck at Orchard Road and Route 30 in Montgomery on Tuesday night. The minivan was headed north on Orchard and crashed into a semi truck in the southbound lane around 8:20 p.m., Oswego firefighters said. Three people were injured in the crash, all women. Two were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, and one was transported to another hospital by helicopter, which landed on Orchard Road just south of Route 30. A fourth person involved in the accident refused medical treatment, according to Oswego Battalion Chief Jeff Warren. None of the names have been released, and Warren did not say whether the injured people were drivers or passengers. The intersection remained …
