Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are all possible.
Get ready for some storms. The storm system that dropped large hail and tornadoes on parts of Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma is now headed toward Illinois. The National Weather Service has placed most of Illinois in the "slight risk" category for severe weather on Monday and Tuesday. The main threats on both days will be damaging winds and large hail. The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center noted in its technical discussions that isolated tornadoes are also possible on Monday and Tuesday. The National Weather Service-Chicago still has a flood warning in place for parts of the Fox River, but the river level is receding.
A Flood Warning remains in effect for parts of the Fox River, but the National Weather Service-Chicago says it probably will be lifted by Sunday. Communities along the Fox, including Montgomery, are still recovering from the April 18 rains that flooded basements, back yards, roads and property along the river. The Flood Warning continues for the Fox River at Montgomery affecting Kane and Kendall counties. The Fox River at Montgomery is also still at flood levels as of Tuesday, April 30. "The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by early Sunday morning," according to the Flood Warning. At Montgomery, the flood stage was 13.3 feet as of 9:15 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service Chicago says to be on the lookout for thunderstorms, winds up to 60 mph and some flooding of the Fox River in Montgomery.

After 24 hours of snowfall, the National Weather Service said Yorkville had the most snow.
How much snow did Yorkville get? A lot. How does that compare to the rest of the area? Well, according to the National Weather Service, Yorkville claims the prize of having the most snowfall in a 24 hour period from 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning to 6 a.m. Wednesday morning. Yorkville got a total of 11.7 inches, according to the NWS, which beat out Ottawa (11 inches) and De Kalb (10.2 inches). And what did some of our neighbors get? As of 8:31 p.m. Tuesday night, the NWS reported that Oswego had 8.1 inches of snow. Plano at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday was reported with 8.3 inches.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for areas of Will and Kendall counties, including Montgomery, effective Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. Snow — possibly mixed with sleet — is expected to begin Tuesday morning, continuing into the afternoon and tapering to lighter snow Tuesday evening. Snowfall may be heavy at times throughout the day Tuesday, according to the NWS. Snow accumulation over six inches is possible across the area, according to the winter storm watch. The National Weather Service is predicting some rough weather for the Montgomery area.
Nasty winter weather is on the way for Montgomery. The National Weather Service is warning of a hazardous outlook for the next 72 hours. For Wednesday, the area will see wind chill values of -5 to -15 degrees. On Thursday the forecast is calling for 4 to 5 inches of accumulating snow in the afternoon and into the evening hours. Snow could change over to periods of freezing drizzle and light snow by early Friday. Both Montgomery Village Hall, at 200 N. River St., and the Montgomery Police Station, at 10 Civic Center Avenue, can serve as warming centers. Village Hall is open 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the police station is open 24 hours a day, every day.

Winds are 25-35 mph with gusts of 45-50 mph
Hold on to your hats, it’s going to be a windy day! The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect for Kendall County from now until 4:00 p.m. Winds are expected to be 25-35 mph with some gusts going up to 45-50 mph. The NWS says the high winds can cause minor property damage and can make travel hazardous, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Trained volunteers help keep communities safe with reports of severe weather.
Severe weather affects many Americans, and part of the government’s effort to keep residents informed of such conditions is through the use of trained weather spotters who observe and report severe weather to the proper authorities. The National Weather Service established SKYWARN to help provide an early warning system in advance of severe weather. The volunteer SKYWARN program has nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters who help keep their local communities safe. When bad weather hits, they provide timely and accurate reports of severe weather to local officials.
