Linda, I have to agree with you that Andy asks the hard questions. I also will ask tough questions on behalf of all Montgomery residents. Andy did vote against the last tax hike but the vote still lost because three other Trustees and the Village President voted in favor of a tax hike. We need another Trustee that stands up for the people they represent. I'm hoping to have your vote also. Ben A …   more ›

Board Votes to Crack Down on Delinquent Developer

Trustees on Monday voted to go after Tinley Park-based TCB Development for more than $40,000 in engineering and other fees the company has owed since 2008.

The Montgomery Village Board voted Monday night to go after TCB Development for more than $40,000 the company has owed since 2008. TCB, based in Tinley Park, had planned to build an industrial park on roughly 170 acres of land between the two sections of Knell Road, north of Aucutt Road. The company brought this proposal through the village development process, beginning in July 2007 and culminating in a final approval in August 2008. But the project stalled once the economy took a tumble, and the land remains vacant. And since village staff worked on TCB’s plans for more than a year, sending some of them to outside engineering firms, the costs piled up. TCB has yet to pay its outstanding bill to the village, which totals $40,568.59. TCB …

I think Trustee Brolley raised an important point regarding the message this sends to other businesses. I think we need to weigh the size of this project versus the amount owed at this time. The land to be developed is a huge parcel. I really think we as a Village need to proceed in a cautious manner. I would hate to see us shoot our selves in the foot for $40,000 in the next year or so versus an…   more ›

Village Board May Go After Delinquent Developer

TCB Development has owed the village more than $40,000 for the past three years, after halting plans to build an industrial complex. Trustees think it's time to put a lien on the still-vacant property, which sits between the two sections of Knell Road.

The Montgomery Village Board may soon take the unusual step of going after a delinquent development company by placing a lien on property it owns. TCB Development, based in Tinley Park, owes the village $40,568.59. That amount has been on the village books since 2008, when TCB halted plans to build an industrial park on about 170 acres of land between the two sections of Knell Road and north of the VVF plant on Aucutt Road. According to Senior Planner Michael Brown, the TCB proposal would have seen a large industrial distribution center, with about five buildings, and an extension from Knell Road to Orchard Road. TCB acquired the property from CenterPoint Properties of Oak Brook, who had similar plans that never came to fruition, Brown …

Two In, Two Out, and One Returned to the Village Board

Pete Heinz will serve a seventh term, while Matt Brolley and Stan Bond get their first after Tuesday's election.

It was one of the most hotly-contested elections in the village of Montgomery’s recent history. And when the dust cleared, voters sent two new trustees to the board, voting off two incumbents, and returned a 24-year veteran to his seat. The two newbies are Stan Bond and Matt Brolley, two residents with differing ideas about the future of the village. They will replace two incumbents: Jeanne Felten, who served two terms, and Robert Watermann, who served from 2001 to 2004, and then from 2006 on. The third incumbent in the race, Pete Heinz, will return to the board for a seventh term. With all unofficial results tallied, Bond won 22 percent of the votes in Kane County, Heinz 18 percent and Brolley 13 percent. Brolley took Kendall County by …

The turnout was pathetic. We had seven candidates vying for three seats. The candidates presented a broad view of visions for the village. A number of the candidates made very good efforts to personally engage Montgomery residents. People get to complain because they are taxpayers whether they voted or not but there were some genuine choices in this election. How could you not take the time to …   more ›
