I would like to personally extend my heartfelt gratitude to the 2,039 Kendall County voters that chose to cast a ballot for Todd Milliron. Rest assured, I will continue to attend Kendall County Board meetings as a citizen while maintaining vigilance over the county board proceedings. Congratulations to the five new Republican Candidates selected in the primary and the five existing incumbent Kendall County Board members who were the top five vote getters in District #1 and District #2. I can only hope that some new blood on the Kendall County Board will now instill a different board attitude towards long overdue action towards transparency and openness. These two concepts, to always include the public, were embraced by other winning …

Kane County saw 21 percent turnout, and Kendall about 22 percent in Tuesday's primary election.
It’s a familiar song, and you hear it after every election: turnout was dismal, below even the lowest expectations. Tuesday’s primary election was no exception. Even with unseasonably warm weather, voters mainly stayed away during the 13 hours the polls were open, leaving the decisions to less than a quarter of the registered voters in Kane and Kendall counties. This led to some races and referendum questions being decided by very few voters. In Montgomery, for example, a question about electricity aggregation was decided by only 1,328 voters between the two counties. Montgomery’s more than 18,000 residents will be affected by this vote – homes and small businesses are automatically opted into the program. Some candidates complained about …

Melissa Barnhart will become a judge in the new 23rd Judicial Circuit, which will comprise Kendall and DeKalb counties.
A new judge in a new judicial circuit. The winner of the Republican primary, Melissa Barnhart, will serve in the 23rd Judicial Circuit. The state legislature created the circuit by splitting Kendall and DeKalb counties from the 16th Judicial Circuit, which will be comprised only of Kane County starting in December. The new judicial seat requires the Barnhart live in Kendall County and be elected by Kendall County voters only. No Democrats filed nominating petitions, so Barnhart will be unopposed in the November election. Circuit judges are elected in traditional partisan races for six-year terms, according to an Illinois courts website. After their first terms, circuit judges face retention elections, which simply ask voters - yes or no - …
The Aurora alderman will face Republican Pat Fee in November, in a district with no incumbent.
Stephanie Kifowit, who for the last nine years has served as Aurora’s 3rd Ward alderman, secured the nomination in the 84th State House District Tuesday night. Unofficial totals show Kifowit with a more than 700-vote lead over her two opponents, attorney Carole Cheney and flight attendant Alex Arroyo. Cheney and Arroyo ended the race essentially tied, with only 10 votes separating them. Kifowit held a victory party at O’Malley’s Bar and Grill in Aurora. Surrounded by supporters, she credited the hard work of her campaign. “Walking door to door and talking to voters is the way to do it,” she said. Kifowit was heavily supported by state Democrats, a fact that drew criticism from her opponents. But she said it was the ground-level effort of …
Corinne Pierog captured the Democratic nod for the 25th State Senate seat.
Perennial candidate Jim Oberweis won the GOP primary for the 25th State Senate seat in a big way Tuesday night. With 97 percent of precincts reporting late Tuesday, Oberweis had secured nearly 50 percent of the vote with David Richmond with 30.1 percent and Richard Slocum 20.6 percent. “We turn now to the general election, and I say with confidence that we will continue to grow our ranks as we spread our message across the district,” Oberweis said in a prepared statement. “We have faith that cutting taxes and stopping the spending spree in Springfield will help turn around our state’s economy, and we have confidence that our common sense conservative approach will win support across party lines.” Oberweis will face off against Democratic …
The former congressman will face Rep. Judy Biggert in November for the right to represent the newly-drawn 11th District.
Former Congressman Bill Foster took a decisive step back toward Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, securing the Democratic nomination in the 11th Congressional District. Foster, who served the 14th District from 2008 to 2010, won the nomination in the newly-drawn 11th by a significant margin, besting attorney Juan Thomas and Orland Fire District President Jim Hickey. Foster joined the DuPage County Democrats at an election night party at Village Links in Glen Ellyn on Tuesday night. Taking the podium around 9 p.m., he declared victory, and set his sights on his November battle against 13th District Rep. …

With 2,039 voters supporting him, Todd speaks for many in Kendall County. Although he will not vie for a seat in the general election, Todd is affecting the way that Kendall County operates. This is a sign that concerned Kendall County citizens should persevere in their efforts to make Kendall County a better place to live. Congratulations to Todd for running a positive campaign.   more ›
