Local Lawn Service Looking for Others to Help WWII Veterans

Rick Jacobsen of Jacobsen Lawn Service is hoping other area service-based companies come forward and “Adopt a Vet.”

It might be hard to start thinking of mowing your lawn and weeding in this weather, but Oswego resident and business owner Rick Jacobsen is thinking about just that as well as how he can help others. Last year Jacobsen, along with Herschel Luckinbill, a Navy and Vietnam veteran, created the “Adopt a Vet” program where the two worked to find lawn service providers in the Oswego area to help out WWII vets with their lawn upkeep during the spring and summer months. Jacobsen, who owns Jacobsen Lawn Service, “adopted” WWII veteran Clarence Bark and helped him with his lawn for the year. “I want to help out,” said Jacobsen. “I don’t expect everyone to do what I do, but a bunch of little things together equal a lot.” Right now Jacobsen is looking…
