Watch: Baird Makes Kendall Sheriff's Candidacy Official

Lifelong Oswego resident says it's time for a new leadership.

Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird made official Saturday what’s long been rumored. The lifelong Oswego resident is running for Kendall County Sheriff. Baird made the announcement on the steps of the Kendall County Courthouse to a crowd of about 100 supporters, including Oswego Village President Brian LeClercq, Village Trustee Judy Sollinger and Kendall County Coroner Ken Toftoy. Resident Calls on County Sheriff to Take Responsibility for Actions of Department Employees

Reader upset over lawsuits impacting Sheriff's Office, taxpayers.

Last week, I read in the Kendall County Record as well as the local Patch, that there is another federal lawsuit against the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department among the two current sexual harassment suits.   After I read about the lawsuit filed known as the “Wal-Mart incident”, I thought to myself, well this is kind of ridiculous. I myself don’t doubt it is a scheme to make a quick buck. However, despite what my opinion is, it’s the job of the courts to decide whether the claim is just. On the other hand, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department felt the need to give their opinion on Facebook. Is Chief Eaves going to clean the dirt out of the Sheriff's office if he is elected? Everyone is aware of the misbehavior of some of the officers there. (Ex. DUI Charge for Man Driving on Wrong Side of the Road: Sheriff

Driving with revoked license Joseph E. Kennedy, 50, of the 200 block of Mill, Yorkville, was arrested at 9:12 a.m. at Route 71 and Van Emmon Road and charged for driving with a revoked license, said the Kendall County Sheriff’s office. Deputies stopped Kennedy for originally driving without headlights when atmospheric conditions required them to be turned on. Saturday, Feb. 2 Criminal trespass to property Tye Preston Warden, 47, of the 900 block of Highland Avenue, Aurora, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. in the 0-99 block of Commerce Drive and charged with criminal trespass to property, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s office. Boulder Hill Teen Arrested for Shooting Pellet Gun at Girls: Sheriff

Aaron Patrick Moriarty, 18, was arrested in an incident on Friday, Oct. 26.

An 18-year-old Boulder Hill resident was arrested for shooting at two female juveniles with a pellet gun, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s office. Aaron Patrick Moriarty, 18, of the 0-99 block of Springdale, Montgomery, was arrested at 1:07 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 outside of his residence and charged with reckless conduct and discharging on a public street. Sheriff’s deputies had received reports about an individual shooting a pellet gun across the street at two female juveniles. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

UPDATED: Plainfield Man Charged in Unincorporated Kendall County Arson

Keenan Slagel is being held at the Kendall County Sheriff's office in connection with a 2007 arson at an unincorporated Kendall County home. Two additional fires at the house are still under investigation, police said.

Updated at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 31: Police said they are investigating a Plainfield man in connection with a series of 2007 fires at a home in unincorporated Kendall County. Keenan Slagel, 29, of the 24000 block of Caton Farm Road in unincorporated Plainfield, was arrested Monday and charged with arson, a Class 2 felony. He is being held on $500,000 bond at the Kendall County Sheriff's office, police said. Police said a series of arsons occurred in 2007 at a home at 38 Winding Winding Creek Rd. between Oswego and Yorkville. The fires occured on March 31, April 21 and Oct. 11, 2007, according to the sheriff's department. On Wednesdsay, Kendall County Sgt. Joe Jasnosz clarified that Slagel is currently charged only with the April 2007 incident. "…

Reports state the teen allegedly struck someone with a cell phone multiple times and also struck with her fists. In-state warrant Wendy Joy Rader, 42, of the 0-99 block of Seneca Drive, Montgomery, was arrested at 2:46 a.m. at Route 30 and Douglas Road after being pulled over due to not having a front registration plate, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. Police discovered Rader had an outstanding warrant for Kane County a forgery charge with a $25,000 bond. Rader was booked on an in-state warrant, as well as cited for having no registration plate and an expired driver’s license. Reports state the owner did not notice the rifle was missing until July 12.
