All donations will go to the Kendall County Food Pantry.
The National Association of Letter Carriers through the United States Postal Service is holding a national food drive to support local food pantries. All USPS locations will be particiapting in the National Food Drive, Stamp Out Hunger, which goes from May 6 to May 11. On May 11, USPS workers across the country will collect food donations of canned or non-perishable items that residents leave by mailboxes. Kendall county donations will be given to the Kendall County Food Pantry. Residents may also drop off donations to their local post office during the week. The pet food department of the Kendall County Food Pantry will hold a pet food drive Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Oswego Petco, 3066 US Highway 34. Pet Food Distribution Coordinator Mary Anne Ryan will be assisted by members of the Yorkville Middle School Student Council. All donated pet food and monetary donations will be used to provide food for the KCFP’s clients’ pets. Information by the Kendall County Food Pantry.

Shopping, bouncing and benefitting the food pantry. That’s what area residents and businesses plan on doing tonight at the Holiday Bounce and Shop at Bounce Town in Oswego. Residents are encouraged to bring canned foods and other non-perishable items to donate to the Kendall County Food Pantry in exchange for discounted bounce passes. Passes will be $7 for 90 minutes of open bouncing and $9 for two hours. A 50/50 raffle for holiday items will also be held, with all proceeds benefitting the food pantry. Local businesses and craftsmen will be on hand selling wares during the festivities. Participating businesses include: The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and goes until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

The Oswego Chamber of Commerce Leads groups again had their Great Hunger Challenge Food Drive on Thursday, November 8th and collected food and money for the Kendall County Food Pantry. Cindy Thompson, Oswego Community Bank; Jeannie LaMarre, Fox Valley Trophy & Tastefully Simple and Natalie LaMarre delivered the items collected included $1554 in cash and checks to Maria Spaeth of the Kendall County Food Pantry. Halloween costumes can take a lot of planning, mending, crazy last-minute searching with a lot of laughs and tears all rolled up to create the most amazing costume ever. But do you ever actually take a picture of all that hard work? Now you can get a professional photo and help a local charitable organization at the same time. Oswego photographer Julie Mettler, owner of Mettler Portraits, is hosting her annual Halloween Charity Bash to benefit the Kendall County Food Pantry. Age is just a number. And twelve-year-old Madeline Cumbey is proving that you can help improve your community no matter your age. Cumbey moved to Oswego less than a year ago and has already started to make positive changes in the area. Cumbey spearheaded the creation of a community garden at Montgomery’s Community Christian Church (CCC). All produce is donated to the Kendall County Food Pantry to help those in need have nutritious food options. The garden was planted by community children as part of Oswegoland Park District’s Earth Day event in April 2012. Church members tend the garden and deliver the produce to the food pantry.
