Dramatic Photos of Monday Night's Fatal I-88 Tanker Truck Crash
One person is killed and one person injured in a crash that remains under investigation by state police.
Illinois State Police report that one person was killed and one was injured in Monday night's dramatic I-88 tanker truck crash near Route 47. According to police and media reports, the crash took place around 8:14 p.m. Monday at the eastbound milepost 102 in DeKalb, closing the tollway in both directions. The driver of a passenger vehicle stopped on Route 47 without its lights on. A second passenger vehicle struck the rear of the first car, then spun to the left, where it was struck by the tanker truck. As photos show, the tanker truck was pushed on its side and was leaking ethanol. Hazmat units were called to the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was killed.
