Local writer compiles 175 years of village history into photo book to be published this year.
Reading a Jo Fredell Higgins book is like stepping into a time machine. Higgins has spent the past decade painstakingly chronicling the history of the Fox Valley in words and pictures. Over four previous books—dedicated to Naperville, Geneva, Dekalb and Aurora—she has combined a love of research with a knack for finding compelling historical photos. She’s received acclaim locally, and her books have sold very well, she says. Now Higgins is turning her attention to the village of Montgomery. Her fifth book, simply titled Montgomery, is finished, and is expected to hit shelves in late May or early June.
