Brian Urlacher Says Goodbye to Professional Football

One of the most popular Chicago Bears is now calling it quits, according to CBS Chicago.

Chicago Bears veteran of 13 years Brian Urlacher officially retired Wednesday morning, according to CBS Chicago. The 34-year-old linebacker says he has no regrets ending a professional career playing exclusively for the Chicago Bears. “Although I could continue playing, I’m not sure I would bring a level of performance or passion that’s up to my standards,” Urlacher told CBS news. When considering this, along with the fact that I could retire after a 13 year career wearing only one jersey for such a storied franchise, my decision became pretty clear.” Urlacher recently made news in March when he couldn’t strike a new contract deal with the Bears—claiming the one-year $2 million offer was “a slap in the face.”

Montgomery's Own Baseball Team Takes Second at Tourney

Mustangs "continue to overcome obstacles and go down a path of success."

The Montgomery Mustangs are the sole baseball team representing the city of Montgomery. We are only in our second year of existence and we continue to overcome obstacles and go down a path of success. If you remember us from last year, we are the team that worked with the city of Montgomery to uncover our own field of dreams. This field was at McDole Elementary School in Montgomery. This year, we had to relocate to a different field to accommodate the longer bases and a longer pitchers mound. We were able to obtain a field at the Sugar Grove Sports Complex. We have worked very hard to keep our program alive and continue to have success.  Last weekend the team traveled out to Rock Island for the Mother's Day Clash tournament and out of 12 …

Photos: Patch Takes in White Sox Home Opener 2013

Take a look at images from U.S. Cellular Field as the Chicago White Sox kicked off the 2013 season, and see if you recognize a neighbor or two.

The smell of brats cooking on grills made its way through parking lot C off Shields Avenue. By 11 a.m. the beer was flowing. It was opening day on the Southside.  Chicago White Sox baseball is deep in traditions for southside families. "I've been a lifelong Sox fan," says Dan Kochevar from Glen Ellyn.   Brothers Tim and Dan Bergin from Chicago Heights hold a lifelong love for the Chicago White Sox.   "We have been coming to the park since 1967," said Tim Bergin. "Of course it was Old Comiskey across the street. We have had some great memories. Remembering the 2005 season when the team beat Boston in the division." Dan Bergin …
