Park District Police Chief Mark Johnson has led the Fox Valley police department since 1987. The department has five full-time officers and 30 part-time officers on staff. Park District established its own police department in 1952 and is now the only force to be recognized by the Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The department is responsible for patroling the district's 125 parks, trails and athletic centers. The Illinois Park Law Enforcement Association named Fox Valley the Police Department of the Year in 2009.
