Volunteers Plant Flowers on Mill Street Bridge

A group of about a dozen residents headed out to Mill Street on Saturday morning for the annual flower planting along the Mill Street Bridge. The flowers are purchased at Schaefer Greenhouses.

Saturday morning was perfect, weather-wise—clear and warm, with a gentle breeze. The village of Montgomery’s Beautification Committee could not have picked a better day for its annual flower planting along the Mill Street Bridge.

A group of about a dozen volunteers—including Village President Marilyn Michelini— spent the morning planting bulbs into soil, and arranging flowers for maximum beauty. The committee plants these flowers every year, with the help of and the village’s department.

Brett Schaefer, co-owner of Schaefer Greenhouses, was on hand with a selection of flowers. The village pays for the flowers, but Schaefer donates time and expertise to the cause. The public works department maintains the flowers throughout the season.
