Kendall County Animal Control Hosting Second 'Pictures in the Park'

All proceeds go towards helping animals at the shelter.

Say ‘kibble!’

is hosting its second ‘Pictures in the Park’ event at  on Saturday, September 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The event, said KCAC volunteer Jill Weglarz, invites families and pets to get their pictures taken by a group of professional photographers, with all the money going towards the animals. Appointments are required.

“We had a really great turnout in the spring,” said Weglarz, where the event took place at Richard Lynn Park in Yorkville. “We’re hoping to see even more this time.”

The shelter raised just under $600 at their previous event, which they put into building a large dog run connected to the building.

“It’s all gated so the dogs can run free and play. It’s really nice and the dogs like not being in their cages as much,” said Weglarz.

This time there is no specific purchase the organization wishes to make, but Weglarz said needs are always changing and the money could be used for facility improvements or special medical care. “Extra food and treats too!” she said with a laugh.

There will be four professional photographers at the event, including: Kaia Calhoun with A Sunshine Moment, Jaime Foster with Boojazz Studios, Bridget Finnegan with Finnegan Photography and Shannon Range with Shannon Range Photography.

Appointments must be made ahead of time to attend the event. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 630-333-3043.

Photographs will be taken and paid for at the park, and then CDs with the photos after they have been edited will be sent out. The photographers do the entire event for free, said Weglarz, including the editing afterwards.

In addition to the photograph packages, which cost about $40 for a 20 minute session, there will also be a raffle for various items and goodie baskets. “We’re hoping to get some more local companies in on it,” said Weglarz.

I got my pictures done in the Spring by Kaia Calhoun with A Sunshine Moment. They turned out really good! She took a lot of shots and having them on the CD is great because you can get prints whenever you want! Also! what could be better than helping the Animals!!
