Montgomery Fireworks Violations Down From Last Year

In the run-up to the Fourth of July holiday, Montgomery police warned that anyone caught setting off illegal fireworks in the village would be met with a zero tolerance policy.

And though Patch heard a few complaints from residents, it turns out the village handed out just seven local ordinance violation tickets for illegal fireworks, according to Police Chief Daniel Meyers.

Meyers said this is a typical amount of tickets around the holiday. In fact, he even broke down the amount of tickets handed out dating back to 2006.

  • 2006-6
  • 2007-4
  • 2008-4
  • 2009-22
  • 2010-4
  • 2011-5
  • 2012-9
  • 2013-7
Meyers said he took a further look into 2009's 22 tickets, and couldn't discover why so many were handed out that year.

The fine for possessing fireworks in the village of Montgomery is $50 for the first offense. If not paid within seven days, the fine goes up to $75.
