Montgomery Fest Lineup Announced

Montgomery Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at Montgomery Park.

It's that time again.

Montgomery Fest heads back into town this weekend with carnival rides, food, a car show, parade, fishing derby, fireworks, craft booths and entertainment for young and old.

New this year is a bag tournament, an ice cream eating contest, and a pizza dough tossing contest, along with the return of Shoot for the Loot and the Diaper Dash.

The Diaper Dash, sponsored by , will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Participating babies, between 6 and 12 months old and crawlers only, must be signed in by 10:15 a.m.

Sign up for the new bag tournament begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, in front of the . The tournament will start at 11 a.m. The cost is $15 per player and there is a cash prize. Players can sign up for either of these events on the Village’s website at www.ci.montgomery.il.us.

Montgomery Fest's returning Shoot for the Loot contest will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Sponsored by , two people will have a chance to shoot for a total of $5,000. For details on how to participate, visit the Planet Fitness booth at the fest.

Two new contests will take place Sunday at Village Hall. Colonial Café and Ice Cream is sponsoring an ice cream eating contest at 3 p.m., and will be sponsoring a Pizza Dough Tossing Contest that will take place at 4 p.m. There is no cost to participate in either of these contests.

On Saturday, main stage entertainment includes the “Montgomery’s Got Talent” show at 1:30 p.m., as well as Elvis (Rick Saucedo) at 4 p.m., and Brothers of Absolution at 8 p.m.

Sunday's entertainment begins with The Lonesome Stranglers on stage at 11 a.m. before the parade. At 3 p.m., the Penny Mae Dixon Band hits the stage playing great country hits. The night rocks out with Red Woody at 6 p.m., with fireworks to follow at 9:30 p.m.

The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. Sunday. The annual Car Show is also on Sunday, and is held in nearby Austin Park.  Registration for the Car Show participants begins at 8 a.m. and is open to the public from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
