Girls team finished 8th in state; boys finished 7th.

A special thanks to Coach Derek Miller for providing the following news release and photographs.

The Yorkville Middle School Cross Country team finished their most successful season ever this past Saturday at the IESA Cross Country Championships. Running against the biggest schools in the state of Illinois, and after a delay of nearly three hours, the girls team finished 8th in the state and the boys team finished 7th on a muddy course in Normal. Alexis Grandys led the girls team with her All-State performance. Alexis finished in 3rd place with a 2-mile time of 11:45. The boys were led by Alexx Nauman's All-State run in 11:09. Alexx finished in 16th place in the State.

Also running at State for the girls were Dominque Anderson (47th, 12:40), Maggie Klemm (72nd, 12:54), Maddie Dearborn (80th, 12:59), Nicole Doles (95th, 13:03), Julia Megazzini (122nd, 13:18), and Lindsay Harrison (140th, 13:34). The boys team consisted of Zack Price (48th, 11:35), Patrick Black (68th, 11:46), Darien Ramos (90th, 11:55), Dawson Diederich (106th, 12:02), Evan Jaros (108th, 12:02), and Triston Robb (132nd, 12:16).

The team had 81 7th and 8th grade runners on the team this season, which is the most ever for the middle school in the five years the school has had a cross country team. This year's team took home trophies at every invite they participated in this season, including a first place finish for the 8th grade girls at the Troy Invite in Shorewood, a first place finish in 3 out of 4 races at the Tiger Trail Invite in Oswego, and a first place finish in all of their races at the Prairie Conference Meet. The team also won the Prairie Conference Championship even without running in the 6th grade races.

Congratulations to the team for a fantastic season.
