Video: Dads Day at Boulder Hill Elementary

More than 200 fathers accompanied their kids to Boulder Hill Elementary School on Friday for the annual Bring Your Dad to School Day, sponsored by the Fathers Forum.

On Friday morning, hundreds of fathers brought their sons and daughters to . That's not unusual, but on this particular Friday, the fathers didn't just drop their kids off.

They stuck around for hours, sitting with them in classrooms, painting with them in art class, running laps with them around the gymnasium. It was Bring Your Dad to School Day, an annual tradition at Boulder Hill, sponsored by the volunteer Fathers Forum. According to Principal Jeff Schafermeyer, 226 fathers attended this year's event.

And several of them participated in one of the centerpieces of the day: a simulation of Ellis Island in the late 1800s, for which fathers played the part of government workers. Students had to navigate the immigration system without having their passports confiscated, and answer questions about America to gain entry.
