Video: Community Forum at Oswego East High School

The topic was he dangers of drugs and alcohol. Speakers included Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis and Auroran Karen Dobner, of the To the Maximus Foundation.

On Wednesday night, Oswego East High School played host to about 115 people, there for District 308's second annual community forum. Entitled "Illegal Vices/Fatal Choices," the forum was designed to educate parents on the dangers of alcohol and illegal drugs, and give them tips on dealing with these dangers in their own families.

Speakers included Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis, members of the Oswego Police Department, and Karen Dobner, head of the To the Maximus Foundation. Last July, Dobner's son Max was killed in a car crash after he smoked synthetic marijuana.

Wednesday's forum also marked the first public display of the remains of the car driven by Sandra Vasquez in the February 2007 crash that killed five Oswego High School students. For a full report, see our previous story.
