Oswego School District Extends Leases at Old Traughber Building

The YMCA, Oswego Senior Center and Kendall County Special Education Cooperative currently use the building.

Three local non-profit organizations that lease space from Community Unit School District 308 at the old Traughber Junior High School, 61 Franklin St., will have their leases extended for a year.

The school relocated to its current home at 570 Colchester Dr. in 2008.

Last week, the board of education approved the renewal of leases for the Oswego YMCA, Oswego Senior Center and Kendall County Special Education Cooperative. Combined, the leases render a surplus used to offset preventative maintenance at the former junior high school.

Last year, the school district earned $26,038 in surplus monies above the operating costs on the rental space. Those dollars are reinvested into the maintenance of the facility, the district said.
