Oswego 308 Switches to Underground Fuel Tanks
Oswego 308 will also now own the tanks, which helps cut down on costs.
Under a new fuel contract with Petroleum Traders Corporation, Oswego 308 will be saving some money and moving the fuel tanks underground.
The district signed a three-year contract with Petroleum Traders Corporation and is expected to save $39,000 in fuel costs, mainly due to the installation of the larger, underground fuel tanks that Oswego 308 will own.
Previously the district was contracted with Al Warren Oil, who owned the two above ground 2,500-gallon tanks. The new underground tanks are 12,000-gallons.
Director of Transportation Derrick Berlin said the costs savings are "created because it allows the District to consolidate the transportation and maintenance fuel sites, lower delivery expenses and increase efficiency."
As a plus, the underground tanks also opened up additional parking space for the buses.
