New Principal Chosen For Boulder Hill Elementary

Michael Mitchinson earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and a master's degree in education from Aurora University.

The Community Unit District 308 Board of Education approved the hiring of Michael Mitchinson as principal for Boulder Hill Elementary.

Mitchinson comes to the district with more than 17 years of experience in education, including more than 10 years in leadership roles. Most recent, he served as principal at Belle Aire Elementary in Downers Grove for the past seven years.

"Mr. Mitchinson has been a principal in a well-known district for a long time and did a good job,” said John Sparlin, Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. “We look forward to him joining our team here and feel he is prepared to take the next step in his career. The interview committee felt he will do great at Boulder Hill as principal."

Before going to Belle Aire Elementary, Mitchinson worked as a teacher and later assistant principal at Wredling Middle School in St. Charles, Illinois. He taught sixth through eighth grade language arts, reading, math and social studies.

“I’m excited to be joining the District 308 administrative team as principal of Boulder Hill Elementary School,” said Mitchinson. “I look forward to meeting and working closely with the students, families and staff. Working together there is nothing we can’t accomplish.”

Mitchinson earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in education from Aurora University. He also has his Type 75 Administrative Certification as well as an Elementary K-9 Teaching Certificate with a middle grade social studies and science endorsement.
