Congratulations to all on your retirement!Jane Wolf31 Years in District 308, 31 Years in Education
  • “On a typical school day, there’s a good chance you would see children clustered around Jane Wolf in her classroom. The students might be listening in rapt attention to a read aloud, seeking advice about a piece of writing or regaling Mrs. Wolf with their own stories. Throughout her teaching career, Jane has inspired children with creative projects that nurture reading and writing. She has insisted on high standards for hard work and learning, and she has been generous and kind to colleagues and students. Perhaps that’s why the children, even former students who stop by to say hello, want to be around Mrs. Wolf. Congratulations on your retirement, Mama!” -Principal Lindsay Allen

Jane Wolf grew up attending District 308 schools and spent her entire teaching career giving back to her alma mater. After graduating from Illinois State University in 1972 with her bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate, she began teaching third grade at Boulder Hill Elementary School.

For the next 15 years, Jane diligently remained at her position. “Some of my fondest memories are my early years of teaching at Boulder Hill,” Jane recalled. “The staff, families, students and the community there were so wonderful.”

In 1987, Jane made the decision to stay home to raise her two sons. However, she remained connected to District 308 as a substitute teacher for the next 10 years.Ready to return to work full-time, Jane went to East View Elementary to substitute for a fourth-grade class and ended up staying there from 1997 until 2009.

“As a former East View student myself, someday teaching at East View was always a dream for me,” Jane said. “I am very glad that I had the opportunity to spend 12 years there.”

When East View closed for renovations, Jane transferred to a Southbury Elementary fourth-grade classroom where she remained for the final four years of her teaching career.  “Southbury has been an amazing place to work and I will always have special memories of the great staff and students with whom I have worked,” Jane noted.

All 31 years of her teaching career was spent in District 308. “I still see many of my former students. It is so rewarding to hear of their successes and to know that I had a small part in helping them meet their goals,” Jane said. “Teaching has been an amazing adventure.”In retirement Jane is looking forward to traveling, playing golf, gardening and just relaxing with her already-retired friends.
