From Domestic Engineer to Author

Hoping that good things happen to those who wait...and wait...and wait.

I hate to say it. I've gotten absolutely no writing accomplished this week.

The closer it gets to school being out, the more rambunctious my kids get. It never fails that when I finally think I have an idea, my daughter will have a question. This week, my daughter was very upset. A friend of ours is having a baby and my daughter, who is six, was so worried about the baby being born naked. She asked me to to tell my friend that she needed to hurry up and eat some baby clothes so the baby won't come out naked.

Where she got that from, I don't know. But I suppose at least she is showing some good imagination. I looked at her and she looked at me. It's just one of our "Emma-isms," or so we call them. Not only that, but Emma will sneak behind me and read aloud what I'm writing. Not to be outdone, my son will have a very important question just as my writing starts to flow. With him being 12, he disturbs me, then forgets the original question anyway.

I am hoping for some good news this week. I have submitted my book to a very nice local book store. It takes 2-4 weeks to review the books, and they are swamped. I'm right around the four-week mark, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they'll accept my book to be sold in the store.

Something new did happen to me this week. I'm a stay-at-home mom, and proud to say it. Since I have officially published two books (with more on the way!), my kids are so excited to tell people that I'm an author. School registration came around this past week and something new occurred to me. I had an occupation to write down. Imagine that. I don't think they liked my "Domestic Engineer" from last year.

So this week I've decided I need a change of scenery to help get the creative juices flowing again. You never know, I might be sitting next to you at the library or coffee shop!
