The Top 3 Chronic Diseases and the Top 3 Causes!

Most likely you or someone you know has heart disease, cancer or has had a stroke. These are among the most common, costly, and preventable health problems in the US according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC-www.cdc.gov).

What are the top three causes? 

  • Lack of Physical Activity-not enough exercise
  • Poor nutrition-lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet
  • Smoking
So these 3 factors, are the top causes of the most common health problems in the US today, AND, they are completely preventable. 

If you already have them, increasing your physical activity, changing your diet and quitting smoking (if you are a smoker) will help reverse the disease process and promote health and healing.

This is great news!! You can avoid and eliminate expensive medicines, costly hospital visits by changing your diet and activity!

So, you might be saying to yourself, but it's in my genes, everybody in my family has heart disease, or was prone to have a stroke, or had cancer. The good news is that research is showing that when you change your diet and increase your activity, your body actually turns off the disease promoting genes and turns on the disease resisting/health promoting genes! You are not condemned to experience the illnesses of your relatives, you can influence your gene activity.   

This is good news. Changing your lifestyle will take some time and effort, but it can be done, one step at a time.
