Village of Montgomery Hires New Director of Finance

Justin VanVooren will begin on Sept. 1

The Village of Montgomery has hired Sugar Grove Finance Director Justin VanVooren as its new Director of Finance effective September 1, 2013.

“We are very excited to have a professional with Justin’s background joining our team in Montgomery,” said Village Administrator Jeff Zoephel.   “Justin’s experience in Sugar Grove will be a great benefit to Montgomery and will provide for a smooth transition.” 

“I am proud to call Montgomery home and am honored to be the new Director of Finance,” said VanVooren. “I look forward to working with the Village Board, staff, and residents to move the community forward.”

VanVooren has served as the Finance Director in Sugar Grove for 9 years where he worked closely with elected officials and staff.  During his time in Sugar Grove, he developed $12-$15 million annual budgets which included more than $15 million of infrastructure projects over the last 7 years, coordinated the risk management program, and managed all aspects of the financial system.  

Under his leadership, Sugar Grove achieved the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 7 consecutive years and the Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for 9 consecutive years.  Prior to Sugar Grove, VanVooren audited state and local government agencies for several public accounting firms including McGladrey & Pullen and Ernst & Young.

VanVooren holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degree from Drake University in Accounting and Finance and is a Certified Public Accountant.  He is a Montgomery resident and lives in the Saratoga Springs subdivision with his wife Heather and three children, Matt, Emily, and Jessica.
