Search Engines Raise Warning Flags Over County Website

Google, Bing both reveal messages accessing website "may harm your computer."

If you've tried to access the Kendall County website today you may have seen multiple warning messages urging you to navigate away from the site.

When logging onto one of the county Web pages warnings appear that entering the site may harm your computer.

The county IT Department is working on the issue, but has not provided information as to whether the site was hacked or if there are other errors causing the warning.

Patch will update as soon as more information becomes available.

Update 1:20 p.m. - It appears the situation has been resolved, the website warnings no longer appear on the search engines.

Update 8:20 a.m. The county website was infected with malware, according to an email from Stan Laken, Director of IT Services for Kendall County. The email, which was sent to members of the Kendall County Board, was forwarded to Patch by a reader overnight. According to the email Laken said the malware was removed.
