Rachel Ossyra is New President of Fox Valley Park District Board of Trustees

Ossyra has been a resident of Aurora since 2003.

Rachel Ossyra of Aurora has been elected president of the Fox Valley Park District’s Board of Trustees for 2013 as the board held its annual election of officers this week.

Ossyra, who was appointed to the Board in 2011, will take over as president in place of Theodia Gillespie, who will serve as vice-president in 2013. Bill Thompson will remain as secretary and Nancy Hopp will assume the role of treasurer.

Ossyra has been a resident of Aurora since 2003. She spent 25 years as an engineer and a business executive in the petrochemical industry working for Amoco Chemicals and then BP Amoco in Indiana, Chicago, Texas, Hong Kong and Naperville.

As the chairman of the Naperville Township Republican Organization, Ossyra is active in local grassroots politics in DuPage County and is a member of numerous Republican women’s groups.  She also serves on the executive committee for the DuPage Republican Party and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Naperville.

An avid golfer, bridge player and dog owner, Ossyra is passionate about fitness and open space, and “loves to be outdoors.”
