Presidential Poll Results: Week Two

Here's how (far fewer of) you voted in this week's presidential poll. We'll put one of these up weekly until the March 20 primary election, to track changes in the political landscape.

It’s week two of our presidential poll experiment, and two very significant things happened.

First, far fewer of you voted—we collected 41 votes in week two, down from 225 in . But second, while Barack Obama again pulled in the most votes in our incredibly non-scientific survey, the Republican candidates shook out much differently than they did last week.

Obama won the day with 13 votes, but he was closely trailed by last week’s third and fourth-place finishers, respectively: Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. Each garnered 11 votes, putting them within spitting distance of Obama.

After his decisive win in the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, Romney is the presumptive nominee in this year’s race.

Most interestingly, last week’s Republican leader, Newt Gingrich, finished dead last this week, with only two votes. Even Rick Santorum managed better, doubling Newt’s total with four votes.

The political landscape is sure to shift again in the next seven days. We’re putting another weekly poll up tomorrow. If the response isn’t higher, we may reconsider this weekly poll business, and only ask you for your preference when candidates drop out.

Thanks to everyone who voted. Check back tomorrow for another presidential poll, right here on Patch.
