Photos: Coffee with the Mayor on Saturday

Montgomery Village President Marilyn Michelini welcomed about a dozen residents to her semi-regular face-to-face event, and they talked about on-street parking and other concerns.

About a dozen Montgomery residents came out to on Saturday morning for Village President Marilyn Michelini’s semi-regular Coffee with the Mayor event.

It was a chance for Michelini to pass on information about village activities and initiatives, including the that goes live on Dec. 9, and for residents to ask questions and bring up complaints. And they certainly did, talking about everything from on-street parking to community policing. The conversation picked up once Police Chief Daniel Meyers made the scene.

Montgomery resident Herschel Luckinbill was there as well, talking about his work with Honor Flight Chicago, an organization that flies veterans to Washington, D.C. for free to see the war memorials. Luckinbill also helps organize the veterans’ breakfast at Grandma’s Table on a bi-weekly basis, and on Saturday, he received a donation for that work from another attendee of Michelini’s event, Ann Lasota of Montgomery.

Michelini said Saturday’s turnout was middle-of-the-road for these events—sometimes they draw only four or five people, she said, but on occasion there have been as many as 40.
