Patch Election Q&A: Martin Flowers on Question #1

Martin Flowers' answer to our first question.

The question:

Just about all the candidates so far have said Montgomery needs to raise more revenue. What are your specific ideas to accomplish this? And what are your ideas to reduce expenses? What, specifically, would you cut out of the current budget?

Martin's answer:

Regional planning—working with Kane and Kendall Counties. That will include discussions with fellow municipalities, elected leaders at the state and national levels to present a long term comprehensive guide line that will give our economic development and village the resources and tools to go and invite commerce and industry to return to Montgomery. Montgomery in the last decade has lost thousands of jobs due to outsourcing and the economic slowdown. We can bring business back to the village if we work at a regional approach. Montgomery has tried to be responsible with the approach to its budgets. Budget reduction is important but we must address in a responsible way without cutting services to our residents.
