Oberweis Wins Another GOP Primary

Corinne Pierog captured the Democratic nod for the 25th State Senate seat.

Perennial candidate Jim Oberweis won the GOP primary for the 25th State Senate seat in a big way Tuesday night.

, Oberweis had secured nearly 50 percent of the vote with David Richmond with 30.1 percent and Richard Slocum 20.6 percent.

“We turn now to the general election, and I say with confidence that we will continue to grow our ranks as we spread our message across the district,” Oberweis said in a prepared statement. “We have faith that cutting taxes and stopping the spending spree in Springfield will help turn around our state’s economy, and we have confidence that our common sense conservative approach will win support across party lines.”

Oberweis will face off against Democratic challenger Corinne Pierog, who won her primary with 66 percent of the vote over opponent Steven Hunter. Pierog,  a management consultant from St. Charles, said she plans to run a grassroots campaign.

“Jim Oberweis is the 1 percent and he’s supported by the 1 percent,” she said. “I will be outspent in this campaign, but I pledge to campaign on issues that are important the great number of people in this district.”

Actually, Ms Pierog, he's the 1% but apparently he's supported by about 42%, at least of those voting in this one election, and 49% of Republicans. I voted for somebody else since I'm sick of seeing his name on the ballot. However, I will vote for him in the general, given as my first exposure to you is your 1% class warfare nonsense.

Ms Pierog please get off the blogs and go out with all of those grass roots people and pick your campaing signs. Thank you.

Corinne Pierog is a hardworking woman who has dedicated her life to community service. In her career as a school board trustee, she has consistently "crossed party lines" to come to agreements that are in the best interests of our children. Her policies are fiscally sound and her voice is fresh. I know that she will do an amazing job as our next State Senator for District 25.

Einstein defined INSANITY as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results - - Jim Oberweis is running for office for the SIXTH time despite the fact that he has lost the previous five. He has run for Senate, Governor & US Representative all in stunning losses. He was fined $21,000 by the FEC for violations of campaign finance law, he has been dubbed the "Perennial Loser", was given the nickname "Milk Dud" by Hastert staffers, and has spent over $6 million dollars in an effort to get elected to SOME kind of public office. Yup...INSANITY.
