Montgomery Village Board OKs Sam's, Canoe Rental

Incentive package still to be determined for big box retailer.

The Montgomery village board last week approved two new developments for the village. 

, met with little opposition from the board, according to Charlene Coulombe-Fiore, executive director of the Montgomery Economic Development Corp.

The village is still negotiating with Sam's on the size of economic incentives for the big box retailer,  Coulombe-Fiore said.

Plans for the store include a tire center and gas station. The store is projected to bring in as much as $750,000 per year in sales tax to the village, and will mean about 170 new jobs, according to acting Village Manager Jeff Zoephel. 

The store could open as soon as the fall of 2014.

The board also approved last week Montgomery Kayak and Canoe for 109 and 111 River St. According Coulombe-Fiore, the business will rent canoes, kayaks and paddle boats for operation along the Fox River.
