The village of Montgomery has hired a new assistant to the village manager.

Jamie Belongia replaces Mera Johnson, who left the village in November. Belongia is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and holds a Master’s of Public Administration from Northern Illinois University.

She spent two years as a management intern at the village of Downers Grove before moving on to Howard, Wisconsin, where she served as liaison to the environmental committee and provided staff assistance to the village board.

Belongia was hired in January, but started work on Tuesday. Her job includes assisting with daily village operations, coordinating human resources for the village, and assisting with the budget, union negotiations and contracts.

Her first day culminated in a village board meeting, at which Village Manager Anne Marie Gaura introduced her to trustees.
