Kane County to Receive $700K, Kendall $578K in Federal Flood Aid

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s office announced Monday that more than $73 million has been approved to help 26,000 Illinois residents impacted by the April flooding. 

The aid includes grants to aid with temporary home rental, repairs, and replacement of personal items, the governor’s office said. Almost $2 million also is available in low-interest loans for residents and businesses.

“These grants and loans are helping people put their lives back together after the devastating April floods,” Governor Quinn said. “This federal aid is critical to the recovery process, and I appreciate the Obama Administration’s efforts to speed needed relief to people affected by the flooding.”

The federal dollars will go to aid residents in 33 Illinois counties, including DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, Will and Cook.

Kane County is set to receive $700,000 in federal aid, according to a release from the village of Montgomery. Kendall County will receive about $578,000, said the county's Joe Gillispie, the county's emergency management coordinator. 

Those affected by floods should register for federal assistance. Call (800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for hearing and speech impaired) to apply for assistance. Registration also can be done online at disasterassistance.gov.
