Ballot for State Senate and House Races Takes Shape

The filing period for the March 20 primary election officially ended at 5 p.m. Monday. Here's a look at how the statewide races shook out.

The Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. deadline has come and gone, and the ballot for the March 20 primary election has taken shape.

Monday's final day of filings brought a few surprises—challengers for State Reps. Kay Hatcher and Pam Roth, and another run at state office for dairy magnate Jim Oberweis. Of the incumbents in this area, only State Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia will run unopposed in the general election in November.

Objections to these candidates' petitions can be filed through Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Barring those objections, here are the candidates for the state House and Senate races in our area, courtesy of the Illinois State Board of Elections:
