Burns Gets Endorsements From Six County Board Members

Six Kane County Board members endorse the Geneva mayor in his bid to become County Board chairman.

Kane County Board chairman candidate Kevin Burns has gotten the endorsement of six serving members of the Kane County Board. Burns will face state Sen. Chris Lauzen in the March 20 primary for the Republican nomination.

Board members Mike Donahue, District 11; John Hoscheit, District 12; Tim Haley, District 21; Tom Van Cleave, District 10; Mark Davoust, District 14; and Mike Kenyon, District 16, announced their support for the Geneva mayor.

Hoscheit has been on the board since 1996 and currently serves as president of the Kane County Forest Preserve District. Kenyon is chairman of the Kane County Republican Party.

"As a life-long resident of Geneva, and as Geneva’s representative on the County Board, I know first-hand that our mayor, Kevin Burns, is an extremely effective leader,” Donahue said. “He is an experienced chief executive and a consensus builder; and, most importantly, he is fiscally responsible. I know that he will do for Kane County what he has already done for Geneva, which is to make it a better place for all of us to prosper and raise our families.”

Kenyon said Burns is the best qualified candidate.

"He understands municipal government, and most importantly, knows how to work well with others to achieve the best results for Kane County," Kenyon said.

Burns welcomed the endorsements and said he was honored they would publicly support his campaign.

"Their experience on the board and standing in the community gives weight to their endorsements," Burns said. "I look forward to their help and guidance in the coming months."

The board-member endorsements follow by Republican Party township chairs from Batavia, St. Charles, Geneva, Elgin and Dundee townships.
